And the people have spoken! The response to my blog about men who date trans women has been, what can I say...? Amazingly insightful?! Deeply impressing?! All of the above(hehe)?!

I want to personally thank all of you who participated in the discussion on the subject, and that your willingness to be open and sharing about your own predispositions will help to teach the some hundreds who pass through these pages everyday day. The response to this blog showed the importance of this subject, and vouched for its importance in the scheme of relations with trans partners. SO once again thanks to all who participated, and who may participate later on down the track.

Using the data in the comments on that blog, we have been able to compile a rough consensus of the reasons, and the types of relationships that self-identifying "men" engage in with trans women. This isn't by any means meant to box anything up, or pigeon hole what is obviously a complex subject. It is simply for reference, and your own personal reflection.

The Fetishic Trans Dater

Most prominent of all, this sub-section of TD's(Trans Daters) is the group who seek trans women for sexual arousal identifying either as hetereo, bi, or transvestic men. Men who fall within this group will prefer mostly to sexually engage trans women who still have their male genitalia.

The Lover Trans Dater

This group of TD's consists of men who fell in love with their trans partners, usually previous to knowing their partners trans history, and became accepting of their trans partners gender state. Men who fall within this group are particularly sensitive the emotional state of their trans partner, and show a great deal of consideration to their trans partners choices throughout transition.

The Admirer Trans Dater

This group of TD's consists of men who have not engaged trans women in any relations, but remain open to the possibility of a future partner being trans. The men who fall within this group are particularly supportive of trans women as being women regardless of their past, and have shown a large amount of admiration for the courage of those who undertake transition.


All groups often define trans women as being/having:

more feminine, a great personality, a deeper awareness of her femininity, having a strong identity, easy to relate to

Again, just to reiterate, this is not meant as a concrete guide to men who date trans women. This is simply a general summary of the reaction to my blog about men who date trans women
